Ah, the cannabis plant, who knew this would be the buzzword ingredient of the 21st century. Those who have been using it for years rejoice and tell us, “I told you so.”
Okay, so we are a little slow on the uptake, but we are finally here! So, let’s talk Cannabidiol or CBD in particular, the naturally-occurring chemical compound found in cannabis plants that do not cause all of those psychoactive feelings.
The ingredient is getting all the attention in products today that range from skincare to foods, maybe even medicine. As a Dermatology PA-C, I see it taking over the beauty and skincare industry, with many of my patients asking questions about its worth. Many swear by it, but could this all be hype and placebo effects?
The good news is that early research is finding CBD has hydrating and anti-inflammatory properties, so it could help soothe irritated skin with people suffering from eczema, psoriasis, or other inflammatory skin conditions such as acne. Who knew?
