This month’s column is actually from GiGi herself. Enjoy.
Reflecting on the past couple of weeks, I cannot help but notice my human paying much more attention to not only me but everyone she truly loves. Why? I don’t know, but I can tell you that this has been the best two weeks of my life. This time is genuinely a real GiGi Approved moment. However, I couldn’t help wonder, did the time stop, did something change? I kept hearing the word coronavirus and COVID-19, something not sounding so good, and it may be a new swear word, who knows? I don’t know what those words mean, but they are mentioned everywhere ALL THE TIME, and people look concerned.
I could tell that my human was under a lot of stress, with quite a few episodes of crying interjected here and there. All I could do is be by her side and comfort her; I even brought her my favorite toy so that she could have extra comfort beside me, just in case I had to chase the cat or something. Grandma was also admitted into the hospital during this time because of her heart, so my human had to take time off of her new job to be at her side. Everyone is so full of love and understanding, and I think humans are finally experiencing what dogs experience daily. Could this be the new attitude for their life?
Thankfully, Grandma is okay now and will be coming home soon, but I couldn’t visit her like I usually do except on a big screen every day. She was so happy to see me, I wagged my tail so much, I knocked things down, and nobody cared, LOL. I am loving this new vibe and hope when this whole corona thing is over, it can continue.
One thing I can tell you is that I am exhausted but in a perfect, happy way! So much attention devoted to me with extra long walks; I am in Heaven. I also noted the streets and sidewalks being tranquil, and I can actually hear the birds sing, the church bells ring, and finally, no cars or horns to scare me like they always do. I have also noted humans being extra kind and respecting each other a little more than usual. I am so happy to share my daily vibe, and I hope my human realizes the importance of these little things that mean so much now will continue when the dark cloud on my humans passes. I think humans are living in the moment again, just like me, and I couldn’t be happier!
